Blackberry users have higher GPAs than iPhone users

One of my favorite commercials so far this year belongs to Boost Mobile. Maybe I have a soft spot for singing puppets, but whatever the case may be, it certainly got me thinking about smart phones.

Nowadays, it seems everyone is switching to a smart phone. Nielson is predicting an even split by the third quarter 2011 between smart phone and conventional cellphone users. So, last fall when my family switched to AT&T, I was faced with a monumental choice….Blackberry or iPhone. Needless to say my logic was less than solid, and now I stare at my Blackberry Torch in anger most days. Besides constantly freezing, it always manages to fall screenside down, although that last one may be user error.

Now don’t get me wrong, the reasons I chose my Blackberry have not failed me. I wanted a full keyboard since I am unfortunately plagued with fat thumbs. Touchscreens and fat fingers just don’t mix. But, my Blackberry lets me use the touchscreen if I am in the mood to try my own patience. I have found the touchscreen keyboard comes in handy when I am trying to hide my texting from a professor, because it eliminates the clicking noise.

Speaking of not paying attention in class, that was my main reason for not purchasing the iPhone. I was afraid I would never put it down to pay attention. Rather than learning about database marketing, I would spend my days trying to beat the high score on Fruit Ninja. (So really it’s a GPA booster in disguise.)

Clearly, I am the exception to Blackberry losing market share dominance.
